Problems after stopping birth command.

I just went off the pill most 2 weeks ago because I moved out of country and my former gyn refused to write me a script and I couldn't get into see my new md for a few more weeks.

I accept been on the pill for 12 years (I can't even believe that its been that long!) and initially went on it when I was a teenager because I was having ovarian cysts. Years agone, I was told it was but puberty, simply since I take been off the pill I take been having pains where my right ovary is, like to the pains I had years agone.

Has anyone had anything like?

Also, I have had some issues with being emotionally sensative to things, difficulting concentrating, hands distracted, and minor breakouts on my face, and my breasts have gotten smaller. Simply wondering if these symptoms seem common.

I experienced 10-fifteen pounds of weight gain/water weight or bloating, or whatsoever, over the 2 and a half years that I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. I just went off of it around five days ago or so, and so far, have not experienced any aberrant acne, or any other agin side effects, but we'll see how the coming months go. I did terminate taking the nascence control two weeks into a new pack, and have just started my menstruum, and have been on information technology for the terminal two and a half days, even though I just had my period about two weeks agone, but this period is much more than like my periods were before nativity control. Much heavier than when on the pill, worse cramping, etc, so maybe my transition off of Ortho won't be too bad after all (I'm hoping!). Since going off of the nascence command around 5 days ago, I have lost at least v-10 lbs worth of bloating, and despite beingness on my menstruum yet again, already, I feel nifty so far. I don't listen the bad cramping so much now. Information technology's much better than the hot flashes, random bloating, large stomach, abnormally big boobs that no companies make cute bras for, weight gain, and the feeling that my trunk isn't normal/natural/my own that I had when I was on hormonal birth control. I am now seeking more than natural remedies for menstrual cramping, etc, and going to buy that book, "Taking Accuse of your Fertility", then that I'chiliad more educated about my own torso, and so that I tin can (hopefully) have more control over information technology in general, and conceiving/non conceiving. I don't recommend hormonal birth control to anyone. Unlike pharmaceutical companies make different types birth controls made of hormones that are chemically engineered to mimic our natural hormones, but they are Not our natural hormones. A few people I know have experienced good results on nascence control, and had extremely debilitating periods before their hormonal nascency control. Unfortunately, from reading the experiences of other women online, and from speaking to other women I know personally, it seems that going on hormonal birth control, although it serves its purpose of preventing pregnancy, is somewhat experimental, in that you lot have to try many dissimilar kinds to find one that your torso will piece of work best with (and apparently, you can gain an extreme amount of weight in a minor amount of time, or accept other rather adverse side effects while attempting to practise and so), and according to the commercials/internet research I have done, information technology appears to exist harmful to your cardiovascular system, and could crusade blood clots. I stopped taking the hormonal birth control because I take started eating extremely healthfully, and do not want to be unneccessarily putting chemically-engineered hormones into my body. I began taking nativity control at the age of 21, because of very painful menstrual cramps, and very heavy periods, but at the fourth dimension, I was eating poorly and not exercising, while I was in college. I cannot stress enough how wonderful it is to feel like "myself" again, and I am looking frontward to the months to come up--whether they'll bring aweful periods, or acne, or whatever they may bring.

I didn't have any problems when I stopped BCP. Not one single trouble other than me getting significant after being off of them for 3 months. I had been on them for over 15 years. I still had the peaches and cream complexion, I lost nearly 5 lbs no pains cramps or mood swings , no withdraw symptoms, bleeding stayed the same.

I am back on them again to contol the swelling of my cysts.

I have been on the pill (Ovcon, LoEstrin & OrthTricyclen) for 12 yrs, while its not the same amount of fourth dimension, I have had a few weird things go on with my body. Some slight pain/pressure in my lower abdomen, inability to concentrate, chest tenderness (and shrinkage!) headaches, and low back pain. Technically, I am due to get my first period subsequently going off the pill next wednesday, just yesterday I had some low-cal haemorrhage, so I really don't know when my period is going to make it.

I went off Tri-cyclen Lo about 4 weeks ago, because of the Depression that information technology was causing me. I'1000 suppose to start my period today just nothing'south happened. I understand that it might have a while. Other then that, my mood swings are pretty much GONE! I feel so much meliorate. I do take a few pimples, just nothing besides bad. I lost a couple pounds every bit well.
These side effects are manner amend and so what I was experiencing on the Pill. non worth it, for me.

Re: Going Off Birth Control

I went off birth control three and a half months ago and would like go to back on. I am 39 and never had children (didn't want to). In March I had to have an endometrial ablation (Novasure) with tubal ligation. At the fourth dimension I was half way through a pack of pills and the doctor told me to finish the pack and then stop taking them. I had been on them for nearly 18 years continuously and had very few problems while taking them.

The first month I was off the pill the just abnormal side effect I noticed was acne. I thought for sure information technology was a one-time affair (adjusting to hormonal alter) and it would not return the following month. I also did non accept acne while growing upward.

However, PMS symptoms proceed to go worse with each calendar month that passes. And ovulation is painful and very present as well. During ovulation I bloat up, get sharp pains on my left side, get cranky and emotional, and have thick belch that is pink. Then I am "lucky" plenty to take a couple days animate room before I move into the PMS symptoms. While on the pill I had only one PMS symptom and that was astringent bloating from water retention. Withal, at present, being off the pill, I have headaches, acne, extremely tender breasts, emotional upheaval, fatigue, constipation and diahrrea, cramping and bloating. And with each month they become more present and worse. I have the "pleasure" of experiencing this for at least an unabridged week before the period actually starts. This is very frustrating to me as I was able to live a relatively steady life while on the pill. At present I feel every bit though one-half of each month is disrupted past these symptoms. Once my period actually starts, it's similar a relief as the symptoms pretty much go abroad. My periods, and so far, accept been light flow (thanks to the ablation) and final 5-half dozen days.

I am not one who thrives on drama. I prefer mind over thing and tin can sustain being "normal" for a few days out of the month when these symptoms are present, and and so information technology becomes a terrible strain to not allow the symptoms take over and some days I experience as though I'1000 literally going crazy. I take Evening Primrose Oil, magnesium + potassium, calcium, and other things to assist with PMS but they tin can do only then much. I just want the normality I in one case had back. And at present I take a new swain and get very embarassed by some of my actions and explain over and other that I "didn't used to be like that" but he doesn't understand since he didn't know how I was before - nice and calm. Information technology's but frustrating.

I know my body is still healing from the ablation and the tubal, and all the same adjusting itself back to existence self-regulated for hormones, simply it'due south very frustrating meanwhile. I don't let it take over my life only it is very exhuasting to non allow information technology take over for nearly 2 weeks out of each month. And to know that many others lost weight when coming off the pill and I have non (despite actively trying to through diet and exercise) is that much more frustrating. I have my almanac in November and have been charting daily emotional and physical symptoms to show my doctor and discuss using birth command to regulate these symptoms.

Re: Going Off Birth Control

Interesting how everyone's experience is unlike. I took Yasmin for 1 one/2 years considering of my skin (high testosterone). When I was taking it I gained v lbs. over time, but I think information technology was more to the fact that I was working an office job nine-v. I did find it interesting that a portion of the weight proceeds seemed to take gone in the chest area. The pill as well did its chore in that my pare was articulate, with trivial maintenance, and the hair on my legs didn't seem to grow as fast and equally thick as earlier. Pre-Yasmin my period was regular with no cramps, and this remained to be truthful while I was on it.

All in all it was a win-win situation, merely so I quit my chore and had no insurance so I stopped taking it final October. My flow was fine until March of this year. I thought it was but a fluke but soon June came and still goose egg. I'g not sexually active so I'chiliad sure I'm not pregnant. I have an appointment this Th to see a GYN, just I just realized that the insurance company I'll be switching to at the end of this month will allow me to see my original GYN so I think I'll wait instead. Aside from the amenorrhea I feel healthy, and my annual physical with a regular blood test came up fine- calcium level was fine too.

I'g hopeful that all it'll take is going back to Yasmin again, even though there'due south something disturbing about having to rely on a pill to fix something that wasn't a problem before.

Re: Going Off Birth Control

I was on Alesse for seven years and discontinued them in Dec. 2006. I had regular periods before going on the pill and expected them to return to normal later on stopping them. My showtime cycle was 38 days long, the second was likewise 38days long, so 29 days, then 31 days, then 49 days, then 49 days again. I have had headaches, leg and breast pain, weight gain and acne (which I've never had before). I've had my hormone levels, blood sugar and thyroid levels tested and a pelvic ultrasound and everything has come dorsum normal. My doctor is sending me to a gyno and I'm hoping she has some answers for me.

Has anyone had these side effects from Alesse?

Re: Going Off Birth Command

Yous need to go back to the md and try some other pill or talk to about what your other options are. I know some are better for some people than others. A couple different pills acquired depression for me and others had other side furnishings. I am in my fourties so I decided to go off and get an iud or tubal.

My girl is on your pill and she has had not too many problems. If yous merely started it might be you lot demand to stay on to meet if the side furnishings go abroad but dont stay with something that depresses you. You get to the point yous forget how it was earlier.

Might be better options for y'all.

Re: Going Off Birth Command

I had been taking Yasmin for most ii 1/2 years to control heavy bleeding and ovarian cysts. I experienced breast tenderness and nautiousness, gained weight, became very tired, hot flashes at dark, went upwards a few bra sizes, became depressed and lost my libido completely. It did help control my cycle and pelvic pain and my face was very clear. During that fourth dimension, I did not feel similar myself. Almost two months ago, I switched to Loestrin Atomic number 26 1/20 thinking it would help clear up my symptoms ( I noticed I started dropping ALOT of pilus later starting the Loestrin). I also had bloodwork done at that fourth dimension to check my thyroid. Presently afterward I started the Yasmin, my TSH was ii.five which is normal. When I had information technology done a few weeks agone, it was high at vii.eight. I went to my family unit doctor and was put on Synthroid. I started experiencing joint pain, was extremely fatigued, my skin became dry out and itchy and I had trouble sleeping at night. I chosen my family doc and asked him if nascence control pills could affect the thyroid. He said yes, the estrogen levels tin can affect the pituitary <where the TSH is> and makes your trunk remember in that location is not enough thyroid beingness produced. He also informed me that these "new" symptoms could be the new birth control pill. After some inquiry, I plant other girls who had the same exact symptoms. I asked him if I could stop taking everything and meet if my levels went back to normal. He ok'd it as long as my ob/gyn agreed. She did, but did not experience the nascence control had annihilation to do with information technology. I do non want to take to take one pill to counteract the symptoms of another so I decided to stop everything. I was brash by my ob/gyn to accept 800mg of Motrin every 6-eight hrs if heavy bleeding occurs. I felt neat earlier starting the b/c pills <other than heavy bleeding and cramps> and take not felt myself for 3 years. I would rather deal with a few days of inconvenience every month and feel not bad than feel like a zombie on these pills. I would propose maybe having a thyroid profile done just to bank check levels. If birth command has loftier doses of estrogen, couldn't that contribute to thyroid issues, especially if it is all related to hormones? I am a niggling nervous nearly coming off of the pill, not sure exactly what to await. Tomorrow volition be day 1. I will get back in six weeks to accept my thyroid levels tested again to see if they are downward.

Thumbs up Re: Going Off Birth Control

Hey, I just wanted to share a couple things:

People are proverb how they had acne breakouts later on they stopped using the pill. This would be due to either the body trying residue and regulate it'southward hormones after being told regularly what to practice (past the pill); or information technology could exist the people who were on the pill would have had the acne if they hadn't been on the pill. Then now information technology seems every bit if going off the pill has "caused" the acne, merely in actuality, the pill has been helping the body to regulate it's hormones, so it has helped out with a problem they didn't know they had developed.

Anyway, I went on the pill for acne and cramps. It helped out with both. When I went off the pill, the acne slowly and progressively returned, but less severe because I was older.
Too, I didn't have a period for 7 months... it was wonderful! (Equally long as you're not constantly worried that your pregnant) It's fairly normal for a person (especially afterward a long elapsing of being on the pill) to take their periods stop for a couple months. I think more than vi months you're supposed to become see your doctor.

If you oasis't had acne before going on the pill, this improves your odds. Also, if your mom, sis?, brother?, or family members haven't experienced acne, then genetics say you're probably less at risk at developing information technology. (Even if yous haven't had the opportunity for a long time to observe your skin without being on the pill)
If you stop using the pill, and you start to notice some blemishes, at that place'southward over-the-counter soaps and things you tin attempt. If you don't need to exist on the pill (did I read y'all might be because having a baby?) I think it'south far better to be OFF the pill, and dealing with minor problems blemishes at the source, rather than systemically subjecting your body to unecessary hormones.

My body felt Not bad later going off the pill, I was less tired, my libido which was nonexistent returned, my pilus that had thinned became fuller, my mood swings lessened. I loved being off the pill! I would say there is much more benefit to being off the pill than there is taking it. (for the boilerplate person)

Good luck to you lot!

Re: Going Off Birth Control

How-do-you-do all - I went off mid-pack virtually 2.5 weeks ago. Very tired, some musculus soreness/cramps, loss of mental clarity and moderate acne (which I expect to get worse b4 it gets improve) It's interesting to read how anybody's symtoms are different and vary widely.
Nonetheless, this too shall pass - I am determined non to have them! I have dropped several pounds and my hair stopped coming out as much which seems the merely +'due south right at present. I know information technology will be worth it and demand to be stiff in the months to come when my acne gets worse. I'1000 sure it will articulate upwardly hopefully in about 6-8 months. I besides had to start taking levothyroxine for my thyroid, my dr. says at that place is no connection, but I'one thousand non taking both. My claret tests a few weeks ago while still on bc pill came back extremely low for testosterone and estrogen, which my dr. said is due to taking the pill as information technology basically shuts your pituitary gland down and stops your sex drive dead in it's tracks. As well no hormones, no acne. I'm taking B complex, zinc, folic acid, etc . . . woman vitamins to assist with the transition, and babying my skin as much as possible. Hang in in that location girls and get off those synthetic hormones.
Good luck all - Renee
