COVID-19 has decimated what we Americans deem as normal life. Theme Parks control how many people get in, restaurants require reservations for parties over 6, and movies theaters are just now getting back up and running. The things we do for enjoyment changed but after approximately 600 days concerts are now coming back to the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Music has shaped our country as we know it and when the pandemic hit concerts were the first thing to go. It has taken a year or more to get some of the scheduled 2020 concerts back up and rescheduled. The public was told in December of 2020 that with the vaccine being pushed that Stadiums and Music venues could go back to full capacity by the end of 2021.

Now that we are in the Fall of 2021 those predictions are coming true throughout the United States. Though concerts are coming back to Nationwide Arena there are new protocols to go with the ever-changing times. Just like many other entertainment venues the arena has decided to become contactless, meaning all tickets will be on patrons' phones and will be scanned. There is also a mandatory mask mandate in the county so masks are required inside the venue. With news of the venue's reopening the arena had no problem selling out tickets to the upcoming Eric Church concert that will kick off their re-opening. No vaccinations or negative covid tests are not required for this specific concert but are up to the artist coming to play the venue.

From an artist standpoint, this seems fair because it is their concert, not the venues and at the end of the day the artist must also protect themselves. This is their lively hood on the line so they need to be protected just like any other patron. The next event scheduled to take place at The Nationwide Arena is the WWE Extreme Rules on September 26th. With concerts and other venues coming back there is a spike in COVID cases, making artists and other companies look at their protocols. For Disney, all employees must be vaccinated just to try and keep staff and guests safe as possible.

Though with a music venue that can be a bit of an issue especially if tickets were already purchased a year or two prior. At this point in the game, it isn't up to the patrons though. The world is still recovering from the deadly COVID-19 outbreak and with that comes a slow and gradual burn to what was once normal life for everyone. With concerts goers being so close in proximity to each other it is no surprise that it has taken this long for them to come back. Unlike theme parks or restaurants that could put down stickers or signs to stay 6 feet apart, music venues are pertinent on each and everyone who purchased a ticket filling a seat. We can only hope that patrons going to The Nationwide arena stay safe and aware of their surroundings while also having a good time. This is all a good step in returning to normal life.
