The schools listed below are somewhat different to what you are used to - offering learning to students through some pretty interesting strategies. Some of might even make you wish your school had been more like them.

1. Boat School of Bangladesh

Since Bangladesh is severely impacted by climate change, there are many floods that make it difficult for residents to fulfill basic needs such as learning. To make matters worse, it is also a very poor country. However, they are making the most of what they have by delivering education to young people using boats. This innovative way of learning has transformed boats into schools, libraries and other training centres to help the community develop.

2. Witch School, Salem

For those who want to become witches and magicians this is the place to be. Salem's witch school is a special teaching facility that teaches sorcery as the main subject. More than 40,000 students study witchcraft through various learning methods including online learning. Subjects include Wicca, paganism and divinatory arts.

3. Dong Zhong: The Cave School, China

Dong Zhong popular cave school has been a place of learning since 1984. Located in one of China's poorest areas, Mao village in Ziyun County, the school was established out of necessity to educate the kids who didn't have any access to education. Until 2011 this unique primary school operated with 8 teachers offering learning to 186 students who would otherwise have no education. The school was closed after the Chinese government declared that the country is not 'a society of cavemen', but haven't done anything since then to improve the situation in the area.

4. River Plate School, Argentina

Wouldn't it be great to attend a school that was also a world class soccer stadium? The students at River Plate spend most of their time in Buenos Aires Stadium, which is the home of Atletico River Plate soccer club and a school for 2,000 people. Even though this is a rather creative approach to learning, it's also challenging as sometimes academic sessions and soccer practice take place simultaneously.

5. School of the Future, Philadelphia

Without a doubt, this is the school where many future pioneers in the field of technology will soon be graduating from. Since 2006, The Microsoft-designed school of the future accommodates students from diverse backgrounds, the majority of which come from low-income families. Those who are selected are given a laptop, but no books as learning at this school doesn't require using paper at all.

6. Burgess Hill School, England

Heavily influenced by  1960's culture, Burgess Hill School in London is considered to have been a social experiment disguised as a progressive school. Since there were no rules for students to follow, they were allowed to smoke, listen to music and bring pets to class. This school reflected this liberal attitude so much that even lessons were voluntary. As such the school is no longer in operation.

7. Gulu Elementary School, China

The Gulu elementary school is run by only one teacher Shen Qijun. In order to just get to school students must climb dangerous mountains. Every day, students need to take the Luoma way and make it safely to the school overcoming challenges along the way including sharp turns and very narrow passages.

8. Harvey Milk High School, New York

The Harvey Milk High school was built for the needs of LGBT. Essentially it was a school that was designed to educate students who didn't feel that they could fit in at any other school, but it welcomes people regardless their sexual orientation. The school itself took its name from the California politician who helped promote the gay rights movement in the 70s. Throughout the years, many anti-gay groups have tried to literally burn the building to the ground, but the school is still in operation today.

9. The Train Platform Schools, India

If boats, why not trains? The Indian teacher Inderjit Khurana helped to create special schools across India to help children educate themselves instead of begging for money. These train schools took place at train stops around India to help students who don't have access to schooling due to financial constraints. So far these schools have offered education to 4,000 students as well as food and medication to their families.

10. Forest Kindergartens

These outdoor schools are based throughout Europe, and educate 3-6 years old children. Just like any other kindergarten, these schools want to help kids interact better with their surroundings so that they can improve their understanding and how they perceive different events. It manages to achieve this by having students get in touch with nature and build things using materials found in the forest.

Learning is not confined to one space. In reality in can take place everywhere in the world no matter if this is a cave, a boat or a train!
